The Fujitas are characters that were scrapped from Big Hero 6.

Background[]

Initially, they were a group of female criminals in the high-tech city of San Fransokyo, and served as henchmen to Mr. Yama. In later production and deleted scenes, the Fujitas were the henchmen of Yokai along with Yama and Bonsai Bombers. This storyline had Yokai rallying a legion of San Fransokyo's most notorious criminals (including the Fujitas) to assemble a portal capable of sending him to another dimension.

Physical Appearance[]

In most concept art of them, the henchmen women possess a punk, geisha-like style. They all share kimono-like garments for clothing, heavy makeup and black bun hairstyles with hair sticks sticking out, with some of them wearing verses styled hairpins. One of the Fujitas appears to possess a flower tattoo on her right arm. Some of the Fujitas carry hand fans and umbrellas, the purpose for which is unknown. Some of them are also shown to wear eye patches, either to cover up an injury or to make them look more intimidating. They wear knee-high socks, although kneepads are also there to protect their knees while they use their roller-skates to skate around San Fransokyo and cause trouble for the people they encounter. The weapons that they carry are mostly bats, with some of them bearing sharp spikes, and mace-styled ball in chains.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Martial Arts: A deleted scene from the film showed a Fujita to be skilled at roller-skating, gymnastics and delivering a strong head-butt to knock a security guard out cold, which could mean that they may know some martial-arts and possess skills in combat.

Concept[]

Design artist Scott Watanabe mentioned that inspiration for the Fujitas came from gangs at his high school, claiming that girls would even chew on razor blades and that there was a feeling of snakes or koi fish in their movements, cutting through the air like a blade[1].

Artist Shiyoon Kim also designed one of them to spin around a ball and chain with her mouth[2].

Trivia[]

  • According to Scott Watanabe, the criminal world of San Fransokyo most likely still exists, insinuating the Fujitas' presence in the film's universe. However, that avenue was never explored in the movie itself and the characters don't appear in Big Hero 6: The Series.
  • Although the Fujitas were ultimately dropped from the film, there are references made for them. For instance, the ringleader of the bot-fights is a repurposed model of one of the Fujitas (excluding the face paint)[3].
